Description

Made in 1863 during the American Civil War by Jane A Blakely Stickle (1817-1896), this sampler quilt is made up of 169 miniature blocks. As a reminder of the turbulent times the country was going through, she carefully embroidered “In War Time 1863” into one corner of the quilt.  Each block will measure 4″ x 4″ once finished and consists of pieced blocks and applique blocks.  The outer border is made up of triangles and corner kites, everyone a different design!

During the year, you will be provided with all of the patterns and in class we will work through them with hints and tips for you to achieve all, or as many as you wish, within the course.  There is no pressure to complete this quilt in the year – it is a big undertaking – and therefore designed for the more experienced quilter.

Sessions will run monthly on a Wednesday evening, starting in January.  Timings for each session is 6.30pm-9.30pm and cost £30pm.  By booking this session you are securing your place on the course.  Details for ongoing monthly payments will be sent out to you.

Dates are as follows:

January 21st; February 18th; March 25th; April 29th; May 20th; June 18th – please note this is a Thursday for one month only; July 22nd; August 19th; September 16th; October 21st; November 25th; December 9th.
